Speaking at the launch of the 2020 NPP campaign’s fundraiser in Accra on Friday, 23 October 2020, Dr Bawumia said December’s elections is “in my opinion, the most crucial elections of our generation” because the country is on the cusp of a major transformation under President Akufo-Addo, and reinventing the wheel will take the country backward.

Dr Bawumia stressed that what is at stake for the country in December’s election is a choice between the nation’s progress, represented by the NPP under Nana Akufo-Addo and retrogression, represented by the opposition NDC under John Mahama.

On Friday, I launched New Patriotic Party’s 2020 fundraising campaign, with a call on every supporter and sympathiser of the party to donate to ensure victory on 7th December and protect the gains we have made in the past 4 years.

Using the two parties’ positioning on the ballot paper to make a case, the Vice President noted that voting for number one, which is President Akufo-Addo, is one step forward, and voting for number 2, which is former President Mahama, means taking the nation two steps backward.

This afternoon, I launched the Cocoa Management System, a technological innovation by the Ghana COCOBOD which will build a digital database of all cocoa farmers and farms in the country, as well as digitally document all cocoa related programmes, activities and transactions across the cocoa value chain in real time. It will also allow for the efficient implementation of the soon to be launched cocoa farmers pension scheme.

The launch of the Cocoa Management System further demonstrates the Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo government’s commitment to digitize the operations of government agencies to bring about much-needed efficiency and ease to Ghanaians.

“The people of Ghana know what the NDC is made up. We don’t want to repeat that dance, one step forward and two steps backward,” Dr. Bawumia said.

I ended my 2-day tour of the Bono East region with interviews with Radio Link and Classic FM in Techiman, graced durbars of chiefs and people of Kintampo, Jema, Aworowa, Techiman and Nkoranza.

I was elated with the good feedback from the communities that President Akufo-Addo’s administration has brought development to the doorsteps of the people and all are benefiting from the immense social intervention programmes introduced by this government.

I assured them of more of thes…See MoreDAY 2 : Tour of Bono East Region74 Photos

“Interestingly and by the grace of God, when the ballot numbering came, NPP is number one; NDC is number two. If you choose NPP, you’re going to take a step forward. If you choose NDC, you are going to take two steps backward.”

“That is what it is. One step forward, or do you want two steps backward? That is the choice that Ghanaians face and we have to make sure, we the NPP and the people of Ghana, that we will protect the gains that the leadership of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has brought to Ghanaians.”

“We cannot risk our free SHS, we cannot risk all the jobs we are creating, we cannot risk One District One Factory, One Village One Dam, NABCO and all the policies that we are making.”

The Vice President noted further that the future of the country is promising under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo and touched on some new policies coming up.

“Nana Akufo-Addo has said that if by the grace of God, we come into office, he wants to extend help to students who have qualified to go to university with tertiary loans so that they can go to the university.”

“And we are not going to build mortuaries for our Zongo communities. We are going to build schools for our zongo communities.”

“So, there is a lot at stake for this election. It is the most important election, in my opinion, in our generation. Because I believe that we are on the cusp of a major transformation in this country and that is why we need to do what we can to raise the resources to support the NPP’s campaign.”

The fundraising campaign is aimed at getting members and sympathisers of the NPP, both home and abroad, to contribute financially towards the 2020 election campaign.
