The governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has said its research points to a victory margin of at least 10 per cent for the party in the 7 December 2020 polls – consistent with a recent poll by the Political Science Department of the University of Ghana, which said President Nana Akufo-Addo will win by 51.7 per cent ahead of the presidential candidate of the main opposition National Democratic, former President John Mahama’s 40.4 per cent.

Also, pollster Ben Ephson had predicted victory for the NPP in a separate poll along those margins.

At a press conference in Accra on Monday, 30 November 2020, the Deputy National Campaign Manager of the party, Dr Mustapha Abdul-Hamid: “Apart from those polls, every serious political party does its own research periodically and all the research we have done thus far shows us that we are winning the election by at least 10 percentage points.”

“We are confident on the back of all the good things that we have done for this country in four years,” Dr Abdul-Hamid said.

“The volume of work, the people who have been lifted out of the desperation and destitution and all the young people who have been given a ray of hope for our future based on the youth programmes Akufo-Addo has rolled out”, Dr Abdul-Hamid noted.
