The former U-20 Ghanaian midfielder after joining the Italian Seria B side Juve Stabia received his first demotion with a club after match-week 38.

Addae was in action yesterday for the crucial encounter when his side lost 1-3 to Cosenza in an away fixture.

In an interview with the GNA Sports, he said the Coronavirus pandemic that halted football for about three months caused his side’s demotion.

“Our form dwindled because of Coronavirus. For three months, we weren’t playing football, and coming back to restart the league, was a tough one.

“When I’m in-form, the team rests on my shoulders but unfortunately, due to this, we could not maintain our status. That’s football and that’s life. I wasn’t anticipating that, but it has happened. We will correct our mistakes and move on.”

On his next move, the U-20 World Cup winner hinted he may leave the club for other challenges.

“I may leave the team. This is like going back. I’m in talks with my agent to see to my next move. I’ve had offers since January so we would weigh them.”

The skillful midfielder ended his marriage with Ascoli Calcio last season and admitted “I have no regrets moving to Juve Stabia. I would have wished I was at Ascoli but I had to move because I played for five years for the club.

“It hasn’t been my wish to take any team to relegation in my career but unfortunately, this happened. It hurts but I have to move on though It’s very tough.”

He featured 29 times for Juve Stabia this season, scoring two goals with an assist.

Juve Stabia finished 19th with 41 points.

Addae was a member of the Ghana U20 squad that won the 2009 FIFA U20 World Cup staged in Egypt.
