Felix Lartey Ghana’s top seed in table tennis has won gold in the Lily Yip Table Tennis Center (LYTTC) International Competition in the United States of America (USA).

Lartey, who is in the USA to study, competed in the event after drawing bye in the round of 16, before proceeding to beat Matthew Needle by 11-8,11-7,11-8 in the quarterfinals and dislodged Alex Averin by 11-7,11-9,11-7 in the semi-finals, to meet the dreaded American Japanese Jayden Zhou in the finals.

He recorded 11-9,11-8,11-9 in the finals to win the gold medal.

Lartey is one of Ghana’s top players preparing for the upcoming Olympics to be staged in Tokyo, Japan later this year.

He has been one of the most consistent players in Ghana has emerged as the number one seed in some competitions as well as winning the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Table Tennis Player of the Year in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
