Mr Kwadwo Owusu-Ansah, District Director of the Ghana Health Service for Asene Manso Akroso District has urged the general public to get their jab in the ongoing mass vaccination exercise rolled out in the district.

He said taking the jab was very important because that is the only means to eliminate the COVID-19 pandemic and limit the wearing of a nose mask which the majority see as inconvenient.

The director in an interview with the Ghana News Agency said the vaccination exercise was available in the district, and that every individual could get vaccinated at the various health facilities and other designated vaccination points.

He said any community-based groups or churches could make an arrangement with the health directorate to have their members vaccinated.

He said though the vaccines available now was not adequate to cover the entire population, more doses were expected to come in the coming weeks.

Mr Owusu-Ansah assessed that there would be a time when the COVID vaccination card would be a requirement for international travels and to attend major events within the country as done in parts of Europe, and that it was necessary everybody participates in the exercise.

He said data about those vaccinated were being stored in a computer software to be accessible in the future or when needed.

All persons 18 years and above are eligible to take the vaccine except expectant mothers, according to health officials.
