Mr Famous Matsi, the Akatsi South constituency Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has died.

The announcement of the sudden demise of the late Vice Chairman was contained in a statement signed by Mr Daniel Dagba, the Constituency Secretary of the party.

“We are shocked to learn of the sudden demise of our hardworking Constituency Vice Chairman of our great party which occurred in the late hours of Monday, July 11 at the St Paul’s Hospital Limited after being ill for some time. Kindly join us to pray for the bereaved family at these difficult moments,” the statement read.

The statement said, the late Vice Chairman was a man of few words and principled, who always spoke his mind on critical matters concerning the progress of the party in the Constituency and beyond.

The party further described the death of Mr Matsi as ‘tragic and a terrible lost.’

The party also extended their heartfelt condolences to the wife, children, and the entire Matsi and allied families of Wlitey-Matsikope.

The late Vice Chairman was a teacher and later worked with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the Akatsi South Municipality.

He further served as an assembly member for Bata Electoral Area for two consecutive terms.

In 2018, he was elected as a Constituency Vice Chairman for the NDC and had since remained committed to the course of the party until his sudden departure.

Mr Matsi was married and blessed with seven children.

Mr Christopher Matsi, a family member, told the Ghana News Agency that further funeral arrangements would be communicated to the public at the appropriate time.

He was 65.
