President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s nomination of Mr Alfred Tuah-Yeboah, as the Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice designate has revived the spirit of New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporters at the constituency and regional levels.

Mr Yaw Dabie Mensah Appiah, a leading member of the NPP in the Bono Region has commended President Akufo-Addo, the Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, and the Chief of Staff, Mrs Frema Opare for the nomination of Mr Tuah-Yeboah, Bono Regional Chairman of the Ghana Bar Association saying the announcement of his nomination has since aroused the spirit of disgruntled party supporters in the region.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Odumase in the Sunyani West Municipality of the Bono Region, Mr Appiah expressed the hope that President Akufo-Addo and his government would identify and reward the likes of Mr Tuah-Yeboah who struggled, toiled, and served the NPP when the party was in opposition but had been neglected for years.

“People like Mr Tuah-Yeboah were always seen at the constituency levels. They are in touch with party supporters at the grassroots, so if we fail to recognise such people then are we failing to acknowledge contributions of supporters at the grassroots”, he said, adding the nomination of Mr Tuah-Yeboah would greatly inspire the youth of the party.

Mr Appiah, a former regional organiser of the NPP in the then Brong-Ahafo Region noted that the various constituencies remained the strong pillar of the NPP, saying it would be politically suicidal if the party failed to appreciate and recognise the immense contributions of supporters at the grassroots level.

“We have several others who contributed greatly and openly towards the victory of the NPP in Election 2020. If these people are not rewarded it would not be good for the party as we prepare for election 2024”.

“This is why we think the nomination of Mr Tuah-Yeboah is in the right direction.

Every party supporter in the region is happy, and this tells you that supporters were unhappy about his neglect. We believe in the nominee and President Akufo-Addo and his government would never regret making such a decision”, the former NPP organiser stated.
