The Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG) has secured a sponsorship deal with Insurance brokers, All Risks Consultancy Limited, for the upcoming National Badminton Doubles U-35 tournament scheduled for 2- 3 April.

The company has offered a free group accident cover for the two-day event at the DG Hathramani Hall of the Accra Sports Stadium with all COVID-19 protocols strictly observed.

According to All Risks Consultancy Limited, this insurance would cover all 50 registered technical players and officials throughout the tournament to the tune of GH¢150,000.00.

The Insurance Company explained that in the event of travel accident from a place of aboard or death; it entitles an injured player to 100% of the sum assured and with permanent disablement, it would base the payout on the specified percentage mentioned in the permanent disability scale.

Also, a temporary total disablement of the insured from attending to or following any business or occupation, the benefit will be based on calculations per week during such disablement.

The 2021 National Badminton Doubles U-35 tournament is a Grade 5 Level ranking tournament and will see 16 best pairs of players playing in the Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, and the Mixed Doubles.

The tournament would also be used as one of the selection trials for 2021 Africa Badminton Championship, and the 2022 Commonwealth Games qualifiers which begin in January 2021.
