Former Hearts of Oak player Dan Quaye has recounted a bad experience in Egypt when he was playing in the Champions league.

Making the revelation on Accra1005FM’s drive-time show, Nkran Kwanso with Docta Kay on Monday, 2 November 2020, Dan Quaye said: “They injected our drinking water with drugs so when we drank, we became lousy on the pitch.

“So when we found out, in the 2000 tournament, we did not eat their food. The bosses brought kenkey with pepper and water to us at the embassy.

“So we didn’t eat their food until we scored 2:0,” he added.

He further stressed playing in the African Champions League is not easy.

Daniel Quaye is a Ghanaian professional footballer who has played for the Accra Great Olympics, Bechem United, Accra Hearts of Oak among other clubs.
