147 Peacekeepers from FPU

The police administration, on Monday, 2 November 2020, deployed 147 police officers drawn from the Formed Police Unit (FPU) to the African Union Peacekeeping Mission (AMISOM) in Somalia.

The Ghanaian peace officers are to assist the local police in maintaining peace and order.

The Director, International Relations Department, Assistant Commissioner of Police Baba Saanid Adamu, while briefing the officers before their departure, advised them to remain professional in their peacekeeping duties.

Ghana has been a consistent contributor to United Nations peacekeeping efforts since the 1960s.
