Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell

The University of Health and Allied Sciences (UHAS) at Ho in the Volta Region has conferred an Honorary Doctorate on Catholic missionary and founder of the Lepers Aid Committee, Rev. Fr. Andrew Campbell.

The University Council and Management conferred the degree on Rev. Fr. Campbell in recognition of his humanitarian support services at the school’s 5th Congregation held in Ho on Friday, 6 November 2020.

Present at the occasion was Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia.

Rev. Fr. Campbell is an Irish/Ghanaian missionary.

He is also the parish priest of the Christ the King Catholic Church.

He founded the Lepers Aid Committee to care for persons with leprosy.

The Lepers Aid Committee has established and runs leprosaria in Ho, Weija, Nkanchina and Kokofu.

Rev. Fr. Campbell also began the Christ The King Soup Kitchen to provide food and help to the less-privileged persons.

A year after his ordination as a catholic priest in December 1970, Rev. Fr Campbell was posted to Ghana as a missionary priest under The Society of the Divine Word and acquired Ghanaian citizenship in the year 2013.
