Prof Opoku-Agyemang will embark on 10-day regional tour from today

The Vice Presidential aspirant of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has announced that from today, Friday, 14 August 2020, she will embark on a 10-day campaign tour of the Upper East, North East, Northern, Bono and Ahafo regions.

It will be a take-off tour from her recent ones in the Central and Greater Accra Regions to interact with traditional authorities, religious leaders and other key stakeholders.

Contained in the released issued today, Professor Opoku-Agyemang said: “I am delighted to begin official campaign activities with our brothers and sisters from these parts of or country,” adding that: “I look forward to listening to them but more importantly, affirming to them the specific actions a new NDC government under President John Dramani Mahama will deliver when given the mandate by Ghanaians.”

The tour will begin from the Upper East Region, where Prof Opoku-Agyemang will visit the Bolga Central, Zebila, Bawku Central, Tempane, Pusiga, Chiana Paga, Navrongo Central, Builsa North and Builsa South constituencies to “interact with the rank and file of the NDC, pay courtesy calls on traditional leadership and communities,” as well as engage with the youth, traders and leaders of other key stakeholder groups.

Prof Opoku-Agyemang is expected to hold similar engagements during her tour of the North East, Northern, Bono and Ahafo regions.

The statement also indicated that national executives, national campaign team members, Members of Parliament, regional and constituency executives will accompany the NDC running mate.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang’s campaign tour began from the Central region where she visited religious leaders to introduce herself and seek their blessing.

She also met traditional authorities, the youth and other key stakeholders.   

In the Greater Accra region, she paid a courtesy call on the Osu-Mantse and other traditional leaders as well as the Christian Council and leaders of Christian community.

She also visited the National Chief Imam and the Muslim community, where she was formally introduced.
