Mireku Duker

The New Patriotic Party in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency has described as “doctored”, a video in circulation that seeks to smear the Member of Parliament for the area, Mr George Mireku Duker.

The party said it is an attempt by the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the constituency to “cover their disgraceful acts, which have incurred the wrath of the good people.”

In its statement, the Tarkwa-Nsuaem arm of the NPP said: “Over the week, the Ghana police intercepted guns and ammunitions being transported to the NDC branch in Tarkwa-Nsuaem, purposely to cause electoral violence”.

Also, the NPP noted that the NDC’s Tarkwa-Nsuaem parliamentary candidate run away from three parliamentary debates held within the week, citing language barrier as an excuse.

According to the Tarkwa-Nsuaem NPP branch, due to the recent developments, which have put the opposition NDC in a “damaging light” in the constituency, “they have resorted to voicing-over videos to cover their disgraceful acts, which have incurred the wrath of the good people of Tarkwa-Nsuaem.”

The statement noted: “We understand their frustrations, as their impending defeat in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Constituency and Ghana at large is starring at them” and indicated that the MP, Mr George Mireku Duker, “is an ardent Christian who wouldn’t make such a mistake with Bible verses.”

The statement continued: “We should be reminded that building of mortuaries and circulation of fake audios and videos are the only policies in stock for the NDC for elections 2020.”

The Tarkwa-Nsuaem NPP further urged “the public to disregard the doctored video in circulation about the honorable member, whose constituents are satisfied with his unprecedented achievements and poised to retain his seat.”
