A total of 17 presidential aspirants and their vice-presidential nominees have filed their nominations to run for president in the 7 December 2020 polls, the Electoral Commission has announced.
Seven filed on the deadline, Friday, 9 October 2020.

In all 12 Aspirants have expressed interest to contest the Elections. Those who filed are Madam Akua Donkor, of GFP Mr Henry Lartey of GCPP, Mr Marricke Kofi Gane an Independent Aspirant, Dr Hassan Ayariga, of APC, Mr Kofi Koranteng, an Independent Aspirant, Nana Konadu Agyeman Rawlings, of NDP and Mr Ivor Kobina Greenstreet, of CPP. Mrs Jean Mensa, the Chairperson of the Commission after receiving the forms at separate ceremonies assured them that the Commission will ensure a transparent, credible, fair and peaceful process. The five Aspirants who filed their nominations earlier are Madam Brigitte Dzogbenuku, of the PPP, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, of the NPP, Mr Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker, an Independent Aspirant, Reverend Christian Kwabena Andrew, of GUM and Mr John Dramani Mahama, of the NDC.
The others include Madam Brigitte Dzogbenuku of the PPP, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the NPP, Mr Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker, an independent aspirant; Reverend Christian Kwabena Andrew of GUM and Mr John Dramani Mahama of the NDC.
The Leadership of the Electoral Commission (EC) welcomed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to the EC headquarters today. He visited the Commission to formally submit his nomination forms to contest the December 7, 2020 Presidential Election as the candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). He was in the company of his running mate Dr Mahamadu Bawumia. Mrs Mensa explained that the process was one of the most important activities in the lead up to the December 7 Elections and that it is in consonant with regulation 7 of the CI 127 that enjoins a Presidential Candidate to complete and sign 4 copies of the Nomination Forms among other things.
The others include Akwasi Addae Odike of UPP, Kwesi Busumuru of Popular Action Party, Dr David Apasera of the PNC, Nana Agyenim Boateng of UFP, Kofi Akpaloo of LPG.
The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) led by Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, the General Secretary of the Party, has filed the nomination of Mr John Dramani Mahama, the Party’s Flagbearer at the EC headquarters. Party officials including Former Speaker of Parliament, Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, Mr Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, a former Minister of Sports and Deputy General Secretary of the NDC, Peter Boamah Otukonor, accompanied him.

Reverend Christian Kwabena Andrew, Presidential Aspirant of the Ghana Union Movement has filed his nomination at the headquarters of the Electoral Commission. Accompanying him is his running mate Alhaji Abu Grant Lukeman and other members of the leadership of the party. Additionally, Dr Henry Lartey filed with Andy Bampoe-Sekyi, Marricke Gane filed with Kenneth Ofosu-Barko, Akwasi Addae Odike filed with Georgina Oduro, Kwasi Busumbru filed with William Kwame Adom, Nana Agyenin Boateng filed with Nana Agyei Ntow, Percival Kofi Akpaloo filed with Margaret Obrine Sarfo and David Apasera filed with Divine Ayivor.
Mr Alfred Kwame Asiedu Walker, an independent candidate today presented his nomination forms to Mrs Jean Mensa, the Chairperson of the EC to contest for the December 7 Presidential Election. Mr Joseph Osei Yeboah, the Running Mate to Mr Walker made the presentation at EC headquarters, in Accra.
