The seventh parliament of the 4th Republic has been concluded and adjourned.
This is to enable Members of Parliament who will be running in the 7 December polls to concentrate on their re-election campaigns.
The Speaker of Parliament, Prof Aaron Mike Ocquaye, was optimistic that the country will have a credible and peaceful election.
Prof Oquaye noted that the house is working toward the dissolution of the 7th Parliament and wished members of the house seeking re-election in their various constituencies well.
Prof Ocquaye said: “Honourable members, the house is making adequate preparations toward the dissolution of the 7th parliament and I urge all to work in tandem for a seamless transition.
“As the 2020 general elections approach, I wish you all the very best and I pray that our nation will be law-abiding, as we know it has always been and that every official will play his or her part, according to the requirements of the law of our country.”
The Speaker was also optimistic that the country will have a credible and peaceful election.
“Honourable Members, I am confident that together, we can have an orderly, fair and credible election”, the speaker said.
In his closing remarks, Majority Chief Whip, Kwesi Ameyaw Cheremeh, called for more public awareness on COVID-19.
Minority leader Haruna Iddrisu, also called for peace, as the country prepares to go to the polls on 7 December.
